Summary By analyzing 93 health indicators in eight
general areas of well-being, the 2007 Miami-Dade County Community Health
Report Card assesses our community. The Report Card asks, how well
are systems and institutions meeting resident needs? Grades are
given on (1) maternal and child health; (2) the health of people through
youth into adulthood; (3) lifestyle practices that influence health; (4) the use
of the healthcare system; (5) chronic disease from a prevention approach; (6)
the nearly 600,000 persons without health insurance; (7) the safety and support
of the community and environment; and (8) issues affecting elders. Grades are
employed as a call to action for policy makers and other stakeholders in
Miami-Dade County.
The Report Card identifies areas where resources must be targeted for health
improvement. Best practices
and, where possible, data
drill downs are also available.
