Alliance for Aging, Inc., Area Agency on Aging for Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties
The Alliance is charged with the responsibility of serving as the focal point to which elders, their care givers and the general public can turn for information, referral, assistance and answers related to aging issues. The Alliance provides a range of services in the homes and communities of seniors through a network of local service agencies. The Alliance:

  • Undertakes all functions of such an agency as set out in the Older Americans Act of 1965 as amended;
  • Coordinates services of the State of Florida Community Care for the Elderly Program;
  • Proactively carries out a wide range of functions related to advocacy, planning, funding, coordination, interagency linkages, information sharing, brokering, monitoring and evaluation, designed to the development or enhancement of comprehensive and coordinated community-based systems in, or serving each community in Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties, which shall be designed to assist older persons in leading independent, meaningful and digrufied lives in their own homes and communities for as long as possible;
  • Develops and administers an area plan for a comprehensive and coordinated system of services for older persons;
  • Serves as a public advocate for the development or enhancement of comprehensive and coordinated community based systems of service for older persons.

Catalyst Miami (formerly Human Services Coalition)
Catalyst Miami identifies and launches innovative strategies to help people and communities thrive. Catalyst Miami works through a network of partner organizations, linking people with financial education, health care information, public benefits and educational and economic opportunities.

Community Voices Miami
A five-year, national initiative sponsored by the W. K. Kellogg Foundation to improve access to health care for the uninsured and underserved people of Miami-Dade County.

Consortium for a Healthier Miami-Dade
The Consortium's mission is to be a major catalyst for healthy living in Miami-Dade. The Consortium is made up of over 50 different organizations that are committed to bringing together a common voice in the area of health and healthcare information. In order to fulfill its mission the Consortium will represent the public health interest and the on-going processes of the development and implementation of healthier standards by involvement in the activities of the community. The Consortium will: Educate through promoting the cost-effective benefits of healthy lifestyles; sponsor Health Policy at the local and state levels supporting healthy lifestyles and health promoting environments; and collaborate on jointly prioritized goals to achieve community health.

County Health Rankings
A program of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute. The County Health Rankings show us that where we live matters to our health. The health of a community depends on many different factors – ranging from individual health behaviors, education and jobs, to quality of health care, to the environment. This first-of-its-kind collection of 50 reports – one per state – helps community leaders see that where we live, learn, work, and play influences how healthy we are and how long we live.

Feeding South Florida(formerly Daily Bread Food Bank)
Feeding South Florida, a not-for-profit organization, empowers other South Florida not-for-profit organizations to assist people in need and improve their lives. Feeding South Florida  provides food and other grocery products; and educates and engages the south Florida community to fight hunger and poverty.

Healthy Start Coalition of Miami-Dade
The Healthy Start Coalition of Miami-Dade serves as a prenatal and infant care coalition. The Coalition is granted authority under Chapter 383.216, Florida Statute to implement the provision of the Florida Healthy Start Initiative, which was designed to reduce infant mortality, reduce the number of low birth weight babies and improve health and developmental outcomes.

Dedicated to improving access to quality primary health care for medically underserved communities through the development, implementation and institutionalization of academic and community patnerships.

Miami-Dade County Hospital Preparedness Consortium
A forum for uniting hospitals with other relevant stakeholders in the community, to address healthcare emergency preparedness and response capabilities of hospitals in Miami-Dade County.

Miami-Dade County Human Services Department

Miami-Dade County Office of Countywide Healthcare Planning (OCHP)
Created by the Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners in FY 2003-04, OCHP provides leadership in countywide health planning. The duties and responsibilities of OCHP, within the Health and Human Services strategic area, are to provide technical support and analysis to improve the countywide health service system.  OCHP's mission is to inform County government, healthcare leaders, and community stakeholders, through research and analysis, of  best practices and new strategies that will enhance access to effective health and health-related services; improve the viability of Miami-Dade County’s health care delivery system and financing strategies; improve the health and well-being status indicators for Miami-Dade County residents; and increase individuals’ capabilities to effectively manage their own health.

Southeast Florida Cancer Control Collaborative
A voluntary organization that includes people from local health care providers, community-based organizations, advocacy groups and others interested in networking and working together to improve cancer control services in southeast Florida. The region includes Broward, Indian River, Martin, Miami-Dade, Monroe, Okeechobee, Palm Beach, St. Lucie Counties.
 
Switchboard of Miami
A private, nonprofit, multi-service agency, providing the Miami-Dade community with comprehensive telephone crisis counseling, suicide prevention, information and referral services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. In addition, the agency offers free individual and family counseling services, as well as school based prevention programs for high-risk youth and their families.

The Children's Trust 
The Children’s Trust was created by voter referendum in 2002 as a dedicated source of funding to meet the needs of children in Miami-Dade County. The Trust, is committed to funding programs that offer the highest possible quality services, with the goals of implementing best practices and improving the lives of children and families in the community.
