HealthReformGPS: Navigating Implementation
A project of the George Washington University's Hirsh Health Law and Policy Program and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation
This site has been designed to present unbiased information about the health reform legislation while also setting forth implementation issues that may arise from a full range of stakeholder views on any particular topic. This project, specifically designed to help people understand the legislation and its implementation, will be particularly useful to federal and state legislative and public agency staff, private organizations and interest groups involved in implementation, health policy researchers, and the press.
The Access Project
Assists local communities in developing and sustaining efforts that improve healthcare access and promote universal coverage, with a focus on people who are without insurance. A national initiative of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
Alliance for Health Reform
The Alliance for Health Reform aids journalists, elected officials, and other professionals in understanding the roots of the nation's health care problems.
American Public Health Association
The oldest and largest organization of public health professionals in the world, representing more than 50,000 members from over 50 occupations of public health. APHA is concerned with a broad set of issues affecting personal and environmental health, including federal and state funding for health programs, pollution control, programs and policies related to chronic and infectious diseases, a smoke-free society, and professional education in public health.
Community Voices: HealthCare for the Underserved
A multi-year initiative funded by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, designed to improve access to quality health services. Building up from the community level, the project is giving the underserved-the working poor, individuals or families who receive public assistance and those who lack any or adequate health insurance-a voice to help make health access and quality part of the national debate.
Cover the Uninsured
Forty-six million Americans are uninsured. Nine million of them are children. More than eight out of 10 are in working families. Cover the Uninsured, a project of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, is a national effort to highlight the fact that too many Americans are living without health insurance and demand solutions from our nation's leaders. Reaching the goal of affordable and stable health care requires changes in public policy. Cover the Uninsured is working to build and sustain broad-based support for change. This includes raising awareness and building support among policy-makers, health care professionals, grassroots advocates, faith leaders, the business community and active citizens.
Global Health Council
A nonprofit membership organization that was created in 1972 to identify priority world health problems and to report on them to the U.S. public, legislators, international and domestic government agencies, academic institutions and the global health community. The Council works to ensure that all who strive for improvement and equity in global health have the information and resources they need to succeed. The Global Health Council is the world's largest membership alliance dedicated to saving lives by improving health throughout the world. Its diverse membership is comprised of health-care professionals and organizations that include NGOs, foundations, corporations, government agencies and academic institutions that work to ensure global health for all.
Hospice Foundation of America, Inc.
A not-for-profit organization that provides leadership in the development and application of hospice and its philosophy of care. Through programs of professional development, research, public education and information, Hospice Foundation of America assists those who cope either personally or professionally with terminal illness, death, and the process of grief.
Kaiser Family Foundation
An independent philanthropy focusing on the major health care issues facing the nation. The Foundation is an independent voice and source of facts and analysis for policymakers, the media, the health care community, and the general public.
W.K. Kellogg Foundation
Supports community-institutional partnerships that refocus health systems on primary care, prevention, and public health through work to improve services, especially for vulnerable populations.
National Rural Health Association
A national membership organization whose mission is to improve the health of rural Americans and to provide leadership on rural issues through advocacy, communications, education and research.
