Mini Biography:
I have been a social work academic and practitioner for over 30 years. Licensed mental health provider for 25 years. The domain of culturally competent care is one of my priority research and practice areas. I have written articles and provided conference presentations on cultural competence with LGBT populations for multiple national and regional and local professional organizations and conferences.
Breast cancer survivor Founded nonprofit organization: ARROW Inc. ( Area Resource and Referral Organization for Women) - only nonprofit within Florida explicitly focused on advocating for access to quality health care for lesbian, bisexual and transgendered females. We provide training for health care providers in cultural competence with this popualtion, as well as offering outreach education to the community on health promotion behaviors.
